State Bureau, Patna: Those who discovered a rift between JD(U) and BJP in the centenary celebrations of the Vidhan Sabha were disappointed. From the airport to the function stage, the gesture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was to give enough respect to each other. Along with the BJP, JDU leaders and workers had also reached the function. A day earlier, JDU Parliamentary Board President Upendra Kushwaha had demanded special status for Bihar. There was speculation in the political circles that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would demand special status in his address. It didn’t happen. Considering the seriousness of the event, the Chief Minister did not make any separate demand. Yes, he did mention the glorious history of the state. Taking political credit was avoided by demanding something. All the parties were assuming that the centenary celebrations are a special event. Happening in the Legislature premises. This is a historic and proud moment for the state. It should not involve politics of profit. Overall there was an all-party participation in the event. MLAs from all parties, former MLAs, members of the Legislative Council, former council members, MPs and former MPs had come. Therefore, no separate demand was made for the state.

Like election meetings, promises are generally not made at such events. There is no demand. The achievements of the state are praised only. The Prime Minister praised the role of the state in the context of historical and establishment of democracy. In this regard, he also praised the role of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in giving reservation to women in Panchayati Raj Institutions. There is no doubt that the contribution of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in ensuring women upliftment and participation of half the population in three-tier panchayats is being appreciated all over the country. The Prime Minister made a special mention of Bihar for its efforts to raise the standard of living of the weaker sections of the society. This was also seen by linking it to the praise of Nitish Kumar. For the success of the ceremony, people who were never members of any House had also come to the assembly premises. They were the workers and leaders of the parties. Apart from BJP, JDU workers also reached in large numbers. It was telling that BJP and JDU workers were equally active for the success of the event.
