Pakistan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar has said that we are still one step away from being removed from the watch list of the current Financial Action Task Force and will soon be out of the FATF watch list.
Pakistan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar has said that Pakistan is still a step away from being removed from the gray list of the current Financial Action Task Force (FATF). He expressed the hope that Pakistan has started the process of delisting and will soon be out of the watch list of FATF forever.
Can Pakistan come out of the watch list?
During the interaction with the media, Hina said that Pakistan has to a large extent completed the two action plans given by the FATF and after its assessment by the FATF, Pakistan will be removed from the watch list. Let us tell you that Pakistan is under the supervision of the global watchdog FATF regarding terrorism and money laundering. Now Pakistan can get exemption from this.
FATF team may tour Pakistan before October
Hina Rabbani Khar has told that Pakistan had submitted a report to FATF about an action plan given last year which was related to money laundering case. Pakistan has completed the entire seven-point action plan a year before the given deadline. He further said that we want to work with the FATF team to fix a date that is before October so that the process can be completed before the FATF plenary season.
What are the Pakistani officials saying?
A Dawn report suggests that China and other allies of Pakistan are doing everything possible to remove Pakistan from the watch list. Let us tell you that Pakistan has been in the gray list of FATF since June 2018. In the last few years, Pakistan itself has taken steps against terrorism but experts agree that they are insufficient. In such a situation, it has to be seen what decision the FATF gives regarding Pakistan.
