In this election of Gujarat also Rajasthan leaders have a big responsibility. Its in-charge Raghu Sharma is also the MLA of Rajasthan. After resigning from the post of cabinet minister in the Gehlot government, Raghu has been made in-charge of Gujarat only last year. Apart from this, many other MLAs including 13 ministers of Rajasthan have also been appointed to the assembly seats of Gujarat.

In the elections of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, which are considered very important for the political future of the Congress, the responsibility of getting the party crossed has been entrusted to the two biggest faces. As senior election observer, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will once again push for ending the Congress’ power drought in Gujarat. While Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has been entrusted with the task of changing the party’s fortunes in Himachal Pradesh as a senior election observer. Former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot, former MP Milind Deora, Chhattisgarh Health Minister TS Singh Deo and senior leader from Punjab Partap Singh Bajwa have also been given role as observers in the elections to these states.

Will Gehlot be able to show magic in these elections
Ashok Gehlot also played an important role in the 2017 Gujarat elections as Congress General Secretary. Then he relaunched Rahul Gandhi, who became the party president. The BJP was constantly accusing the Congress of Muslim appeasement. To take a political break from this, Gehlot took Rahul Gandhi with him to all the important temples of Gujarat. In this election, the Congress gave a very tough fight to the BJP. This was the first time in the last five elections that she had returned to power with great difficulty. The BJP could not touch the 100 seats mark in the assembly. Whereas the party gave a slogan of 150 plus.

Gehlot not only stopped the BJP from a huge lead in the last elections, but also gave the Congress a lead in 17 seats. Whereas in the 2012 assembly elections, the BJP had won 116 seats and the Congress 60. However, it is not easy for Gehlot to prepare the Gujarat Congress, which is facing the challenges of the organization, for the claim of power in 2022 after many young leaders like Hardik Patel quit the party. In this election battle, TS Singh Deo and Milind Deora have been given the responsibility of conducting the election strategy along with Gehlot. Milind Deora is also unhappy about not being given any special role in the party for a long time.

Journalist Adesh Rawal, who closely monitors the Congress, says in a discussion with Amar Ujala that in a review of the results of the assembly elections in Kerala, Assam, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, it was revealed that the Congress was very backward in the BJP’s system of contesting elections. It appears to have happened. The same issue was also discussed in Udaipur Chintan Shivir. It was also resolved in the camp that the party would soon form an election department. The responsibility of which will be entrusted to a senior leader. In view of this strategy, the party has entrusted the responsibility of two important electoral states to both the Chief Ministers. Other prominent leaders of the party have also been associated with them.

On handing over the responsibility of Gujarat to Gehlot again, senior journalist Rawal says that in the last assembly elections of Gujarat, Ashok Gehlot was the general secretary in charge of Gujarat Congress. In these elections, the Congress gave a tough competition to the BJP, but could not succeed in winning. At that time, Gehlot had given assembly constituency-wise responsibility to the leaders of Rajasthan in the Gujarat elections. Gehlot also understands Gujarat very well and part of his state is also adjacent to Gujarat.

Congress hopes from Himachal this time
In view of the practice of changing the power in Himachal Pradesh every five years, the Congress is considering the possibility of forming the government this time. But the way this tradition is broken in the neighboring state of Uttarakhand. In view of this, Congress does not want to take any risk in Himachal. That is why the party high command has tried to send the same message by posting a leader like Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel as a senior observer. As part of the strategy to keep Sachin Pilot, considered Gehlot’s rival in the politics of Congress in Rajasthan, the party high command has given him the responsibility along with Baghel. Whereas Leader of Opposition in Punjab Pratap Singh Bajwa has also been appointed as the second observer.

In a conversation with Amar Ujala, senior journalist Adesh Rawal says that even in the assembly elections of Assam, Congress had made CM Baghel the observer and campaign manager of the party. Congress had high hopes that it would do well in the state. But there the party’s alliance formula could not be successful. In the UP elections also, the party had appointed Baghel as a senior observer. But the situation there was completely different. There was completely bipolar election in UP. So everyone knew that the performance of Congress would not be good in the state.

Senior journalist and writer Rashid Kidwai does not agree with Baghel’s failure as an observer in Assam and UP. They say, the assembly elections in any state are fought on the basis of local issues, local leader and strength or weakness of any party. In elections, an observer acts as a supervisor. He tries to mobilize all kinds of resources. From ticket distribution to election meetings, he plays an important role. In UP, Baghel worked from providing resources to Congress workers to boosting morale. Apart from this, managed 206 election meetings of Priyanka Gandhi. So it would be a bit excessive to judge the success and failure of the observer by victory in the elections.

Trying to create political balance by keeping everyone
Here, the Congress party has given a political message to Sachin Pilot by making him an observer in the Himachal Pradesh elections. Pilot has been getting the responsibility of star campaigner in the elections in the past as well. This time by giving the responsibility of supervisor, a message has been given to his supporters. Recently, Sachin Pilot had said that he was working for the party with his neck down. Now Sachin Pilot has been given the responsibility of Himachal along with Bhupesh Baghel. Giving responsibility to Gehlot and Pilot in the assembly elections is being seen as an attempt to strike a political balance.

Senior journalist Adesh Rawal points out that TS Singhdev in Chhattisgarh and Sachin Pilot in Rajasthan are leaders who are strong contenders for the chief minister’s post in their respective states. That is why the party wants to tell these leaders that not only the Chief Minister but you people are also important for us. That’s why we are entrusting you with such important responsibilities.
