In the genome sequencing of samples taken in the last two months in IGIMS, BA.2 virus was found in 12 samples and BA.12 virus in one. The infection rate of BA.12 is higher than that of BA.2. This virus has already been found in many countries.

A new variant of Omicron has been confirmed in the genome sequencing of 13 samples of corona infected at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Science in the capital Patna. Genome sequencing was done 10 days ago in the lab of the sample of about two months ago. In this, BN.2 virus was found in 12 samples. Whereas, BA.12 virus has been found in one sample.

Dr. Namrata Kumari, Head of the Department of Microbiology of the Institute told that all the reports have come late on Wednesday night. The infection rate of BA.12 is higher than that of BA.2. However, he added that not much data is available on the new variant XE and BA.12 variant. BA.12 has already arrived in many countries. It is found for the first time in Bihar. Research is being done on this variant.

Two corona infected including a doctor in Patna AIIMS
