NDA Presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu Draupadi Murmu has been made a candidate by the NDA in the election for the post of President. Murmu will file her nomination on Friday. Murmu is a former minister of Odisha. Odisha’s ruling party BJD has announced its support to Murmu.
New Delhi, ANI. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi, NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu also met Home Minister Amit Shah and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. She will file her nomination on Friday, June 24. Murmu has come to Delhi only today (Thursday). BJP leaders welcomed him at the airport.
The opposition has made Yashwant Sinha its candidate for the post. Presidential election is to be held on 18 July. The last date for nomination for this is till June 29 and the election results will be announced by July 21. The term of President Ram Nath Kovind ends on July 24. Various senior NDA leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present during Murmu’s nomination.
BJD and Meghalaya Democratic Alliance in favor of Murmu
Murmu also informed about this by tweeting. She wrote, ‘Reached New Delhi a short while ago, will file nomination for the upcoming Presidential election on 24th June. I am asking for prayers from crores of Indians for myself. Jai Mahaprabhu Jagannath Dev.’ The BJP-backed Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) has decided to extend support to Draupadi Murmu. Five Congress MLAs suspended for supporting the MDA will also vote in Murmu’s favour.

It is noteworthy that Murmu is a former minister of Odisha. Odisha’s ruling party Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has announced its support to Draupadi Murmu, the NDA candidate for the post of President. With this support, the road has become easier for the BJP candidate in the presidential election.
