Washington: The coronavirus has given the world such wounds in the last two years, which are impossible to compensate for in the recent past. This virus has created such an atmosphere of fear all over the world that it is afraid to touch all the things that come in contact with many people in daily use. One such thing is the currency note, which almost every one of us needs every day. Many of us must have had this question in our minds that can corona spread through currency notes also? A recent study has answered this question.
Corona on currency notes becomes disabled almost immediately
Research published in a magazine called Plus One says that the coronavirus becomes disabled almost immediately on the currency note. This research says that it is not right to advise the use of credit or debit cards instead of cash as a measure to prevent Covid. Researchers found that the virus lasts longer on the ‘plastic money card and can persist for up to 48 hours later. The researchers said that no virus was detected on the note included as a sample in the study.
‘We tested 4 times to detect the virus’
Richard Robison, a professor at Brigham Young University (BYU) in the US and a writer of the research, said that at the beginning of the pandemic, there was a lot of emphasis on not using cash and many people accepted this. Robison said, “I thought there were no statistics about it, so how could people say this with such a claim? We then decided to investigate whether it was logical, and it was not logical. The researchers also took samples of coins and cards along with the notes and tested them 4 times to detect the virus.
‘We didn’t find any viruses alive on the notes’
The researchers examined the virus at intervals of 30 minutes, 4 hours, 24 hours, and 48 hours. They found that it was difficult to detect the coronavirus after 30 minutes on the dollar (note). The study found that after 30 minutes the virus decreased by 99.9993 percent. The researchers tested again after 24 and 48 hours and found no live virus on the notes. In contrast, the virus decreased by only 90 percent after 30 minutes on the card. It decreased with time, but even after 48 hours, the live virus was found on the card.
