Agnipath Sceheme After releasing the notification of recruitment under the Agnipath scheme, the Indian Army has also made it clear that by December 2022, 25000 Agniveers will be appointed in the first batch.
Jagran Bureau, New Delhi. In the midst of nationwide protests against the Agneepath scheme, the chiefs of the three services met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the steps being taken to expedite the recruitment process of Agniveers. No information has been shared officially regarding the discussions of the Prime Minister’s meeting with the chiefs of the three services. However, it is believed that in this, the three armies apprised the PM about all the aspects related to the training of the first batch, from the issuance of the notification for the appointment of Agniveers.
Meanwhile, the three services have once again made it clear that the appointment of Agniveers will be done in a transparent manner according to the old rules and regulations of the army and there has been no change in the rules. Not only this, Agniveers will also be honored with other military honors including Param Vir Chakra like regular soldiers for showing valor in war.
After issuing the notification of recruitment under the Agneepath scheme, the Indian Army has also made it clear that by December 2022, 25000 Agniveers will be appointed in the first batch. This was the first meeting of the chiefs of the three services with the prime minister after the announcement of the Agneepath scheme, considered revolutionary in terms of military reforms, and massive protests against it.
Army Chief General Manoj Pandey, Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar and Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhary, Chief of the Air Staff, met the Prime Minister separately at the PM’s residence. The chiefs of the three services have already made it clear that the Agneepath scheme has been brought in after much deliberation and will be implemented expeditiously for modernization of the armed forces.
This view of the armed forces was repeated once again in the joint press conference organized by the three services on Tuesday. Lt Gen Anil Puri, Additional Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, along with Air Marshal SK Jha of the Air Force, Vice Admiral Dinesh Tripathi of the Navy and Lt Gen Ponnappa on behalf of the Army decided to recruit Agniveers from the three services in a joint press conference. Reitering the deadline, he said that the dates for the process have been fixed for speedy appointments. Air Marshal Jha said that the appointment of Agniveers will not affect the combat capability of the Air Force and we will not make any compromise on this.
The training of the first batch of Vayu Agniveers to be recruited into the Air Force will begin from December 30 this year. There is no change in their recruitment process and rules. Lt Gen Ponnappa said the Army will start training in December after recruiting the first batch of 25,000 Agniveers and there has been no change in the rules of the military recruitment process for them. Whereas the recruitment process of the second batch of 15,000 Agniveers will be completed by February 2023. In this way, 40 thousand Agniveers will be recruited in the army in the first year and the remaining 6000 will be appointed in the Air Force and Navy.
He said that the Agniveer scheme is in the interest of the country and the army as we have to bring down the average age of soldiers from 32 years to 26 years. Apart from this, state-of-the-art radars, weapons and missiles are going to come forward in the army, for which technically proficient soldiers are needed and Agniveer will be important in this.
Naval Vice Admiral Tripathi said that the latest agreement with the Ministry of Shipping and Director General Shipping has opened the way for the Agniveers in the future career. On leaving the Navy after four years, Agniveers will get a job in the Merchant Navy. At the same time, Additional Secretary Lt Gen Puri said that the Agneepath plan has been brought after a lot of brainstorming and in this we have also studied the pattern of many important countries. For this a total of 150 meetings were held in which 500 hours of discussion were held.
Therefore, it is unreasonable to say that the Agneepath scheme has been brought in without any consideration. He said that through Agneepath scheme, we have to select the best people in the army and this scheme can be implemented absolutely. Puri said that if Agniveer fought on the front, he would be entitled to all the military honors including the Paramir Chakra, which the soldiers get and there would be no difference.
