A special Enforcement Directorate (ED) court has ordered both West Bengal minister and former state education minister Partha Chatterjee and his close aide Arpita Mukherjee to be sent to ED custody till August 3. Also, the court has said that they should have a medical checkup after every 48 hours. The ED had appealed to the court to hand over Partha Chatterjee to judicial custody for 14 days. During the hearing, the ED said that the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, after examining Partha Chatterjee, said that he does not need to be admitted to the hospital immediately.

The ED, in its plea, had said that Chatterjee was admitted to the Bengal government-run SSKM hospital on the pretext of illness and the central agency could not interrogate him when the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on Saturday granted him two days’ remand. The Calcutta High Court had on Sunday directed that Chatterjee be taken to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar by air ambulance for a health check-up.
Referring to the AIIMS, Bhubaneshwar report submitted to the court, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju said that Chatterjee’s blood pressure, oxygen level is fine and he does not need to be hospitalized immediately. At the same time, opposing the ED’s request, Chatterjee’s lawyer had appealed to grant him bail.
Partha Chatterjee’s medical checkup
AIIMS Bhubaneswar director Dr Ashutosh Biswas said that he (Parth Chatterjee) was suffering due to his chronic illness. We have done the investigation and submitted the report to the High Court, there is not much pain in the chest. His condition is stable and he will be discharged today.
At the same time, the police today produced Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of Partha Chatterjee, in the special court.
ED officials reached Kolkata’s SSKM Hospital at around 6 am on Monday, where state Industries Minister and former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee was admitted. As per the order of Calcutta High Court, he was taken to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar by Air Ambulance today. A doctor from SSKM Hospital and his lawyer were allowed to be taken with him.
Significantly, the ED had filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court on the transfer of Partha Chatterjee from SSKM Hospital to Command Hospital. The ED had told the court that the time for which Parth is admitted in the hospital should not be taken as custody. If he needs medical treatment, we can take him to AIIMS in Delhi or Kalyani. In fact, West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee was admitted to the hospital on Saturday evening after complaining of uneasiness. Notably, he was admitted to the ICCU of the government-run SSKM Hospital, hours after he was sent to two-day ED custody by a city court.
ED said- Partha Chatterjee is threatening like a don
Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of Industries Minister Partha Chatterjee, arrested in West Bengal’s teacher scam, was on Sunday sent to one-day Enforcement Directorate (ED) remand by a Bankshala court. At the same time, the ED said in the court that Parth is behaving like a don and is threatening.
